Nanaimo Early Years Centre Focus Group
February 2016 Update:
Unfortunately Nanaimo was unsuccessful in securing the bid for an Early Years Centre. GNEYP & PacificCARE would like to thank all the community partners who supported us in this application process. The Early Years Centre committee will be taking part in a debrief session with the Provincial Office to better understand this decision and the reasoning behind it. Although disappointed in the loss to the community with this extended funding opportunity, PacificCARE is committed to moving forward with developing a Family Resource and Drop-In play space within the Barons Road facility. They invite all community service providers to join in building this community resource for families and children in the community.
June 2015 Action Plan:
This group has meet twice to discuss individual visions for what a successful Early Years One Stop facility would look like and the services it would provide for families in Nanaimo.
Currently the collective vision identifies one or several sites where families can meet and relationships can be built that support the success of integration and delivery of programs.
The Provincial Office of the Early Years has announced a second application process and the group decided to pursue this vision.
Thanks to the great work that was done on the first proposal we have and excellent template to work from. We plan to meet again the first week in June to review the proposal, and make adaptation that supports this vision.
We welcome anyone who is interested in this work to please join us.
