Live 5-2-1-0 Outdoor Games Booklet

This booklet contains twenty game ideas to help motivate children and families to get outside and be active together. For each game there are instructions, a list of materials required, and a recommended age range for participants. Many also have suggested coaching cues for parents to help them guide kids through the different movements.  These games could be used in tandem with a Live 5-2-1-0 Playbox, or just on their own!

Big Science for Little Hands II: Community Connections

Together, the Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society (NS3) and Science World BC worked with Early Childhood Educators to complement the original Big Science for Little Hands activity book, with additional hands-on science resource materials. Our goal is to make science fun, hands-on, accessible to educators and to provide examples on how to link science concepts to the local community. FREE MONEY FOR RESPs Information Guide for Families

Families in B.C. can receive up to $3,200 for their child’s education without contributing a cent. Every child in B.C., born 2006 or later, can get the $1,200 B.C. Training & Education Savings Grant (BCTESG). Kids in B.C. also have free money waiting to get their post-secondary education savings started through the federal government’s Canada Learning Bond. Yes, it’s FREE MONEY for families to get savings started, even when they have no money of their own to contribute. You only need to set up an RESP account to apply and receive the money. Without an RESP, kids miss out on the federal and provincial education savings incentives they are entitled to receive from the government

Live 5-2-1-0 is an evidence-based message promoting four simple guidelines for raising healthy children. Live 5-2-1-0 offers four simple guidelines to help kids and families adopt healthy habits every day. Children’s program provides free eye exams and glasses for kindergarten students

School-age children’s eyes are constantly in use in the classroom and at play so it’s important to ensure they are working their best.  Your child may not realize they have a vision problem – they may simply assume everyone sees the way they do. 

Eye See … Eye Learn® is a program that provides free eye exams and eyeglasses if necessary to kindergarten children by a BC Doctor of Optometry. Visit to book your child’s eye exam with a participating doctor.
