Unplug Messaging Campaign

The "Unplug" messaging campaign was developed to:

    1. increase the communities awareness of digital overload
    2. provide simple ways to support early development and
    3. help families realize the importance of unplugging and connecting with their child by "Talking", "Listening", "Singing", Reading" and "Playing."

These messages can be found on billboards, buses, schools, organizations and events throughout Nanaimo.

Unplug & Play at Nanaimo Parks

Our most current Unplug campaign promotion has been to partner with Parks, Recreation & Environment. In November of 2014 the idea of having the “Unplug & Play” signage at Nanaimo Parks was pitched to the PR&E commission. This was well received and we currently have 11 signs installed at the following playgrounds throughout Nanaimo:

Altrusa

Harwood

Maffeo Suttom

Mansfield

Oliver Woods

Country Hills

Daynes Park

Deverill

Groveland

Kin Hut Park

Rock Ridge Park

The news of this exciting project was written about in the Nanaimo News Bulletin (see links below). This is a pilot project and we hope to expand it in the future.
